Where to Eat Vegan in Palolem, Goa – A Vegan Guide

Pretty little Palolem!  This small little cove in the south of Goa is known for being a little pocket of chill and calm, compared with the busier party scene in North Goa, and there’s some beautiful cafes to eat vegan in Palolem.

Whilst not as full on as Arambol’s yoga scene, you can find lovely places to join a morning yoga class including Summer hostel and The Space.  And if it all gets a bit too chilled between yoga, sunbathing and massages, Shiva Valley is worth checking out on a Friday night for live djs playing house and drum and bass tunes in an open air venue.

I first came to Palolem a few years ago.  I was vegetarian at the time.  And it’s here I realised that despite the abundance of fresh seafood available, I no longer wanted to, or needed to, revert back to eating fish or meat.  I was spoilt for choice with veggie options, and on this trip there was just as much vegan food to fill myself up with.  Here’s my guide for places to eat vegan in Palolem.

Places to Eat Vegan in Palolem

Avocado Garden

This was the first place I ate on my arrival in Palolem, just around the corner from Summer hostel.  When the menu caught my eye with vegan written in bold on the blackboard I was sold!

Smoothies made with soya and coconut mylk, vegan thalis, veg sizzlers, there’s plenty of vegan options here and the lovely staff will accommodate any requests you might have to adapt a meal.

Zest

Oh Zest!! Everything about this place is beautiful, the superfood smoothie bowls, the pretty crockery, the big sumptuous cushions to sink into, the friendly staff in their ‘peace, love and kale’ t’s.

It all had me coming back again and again to work my way through the super nourishing menu!  I enjoyed the raw pad thais, bounty bars and turmeric lattes.

And of course the smoothie bowls, I’d travel back to Palolem solely for these!

The Space

A short walk or ride out of town, The Space is a café and deli combined with space for yoga classes and workshops.

If you join for the morning yoga class breakfast is included.  Amaranth and buckwheat porridge, fruit salad and turmeric lattes are some of the breakfast options.

The Mexican salad bowl was amazing and so filling, which I enjoyed whilst watching the sunset across the fields and palm trees with a glass of kombucha.

German Bakery

The falafel and hummus meal here is such amazing value, a huge plate of food served with salad and chips, plus pitta.

Ciaran’s

One of the nicer beach front places and still going since the last time I was in Palolem, this traditional Goan restaurant doesn’t have a huge choice for vegans but the options which are suitable are delicious and worth a visit here.  Cauliflower curry and rice with an ocean view, super nourishing!

Summer Hostel

Part of The Hostel Crowd chain across Goa and Kerala, this hostel is not only a great place to stay to meet other travellers in the area, but also serves up lots of vegan options for breakfast that you can help yourself to, including samosas, toast and jam, fruit and tea and coffee, plus it’s included in the cost of your night’s stay.

If you want laid back Goa and beaches without the crowds and party of more northern coastal places, Palolem is such a cute little beach destination to come chill in with beach hut and palm tree lined shores.

Have you been to this little paradise cove?  Did you find any other places to eat vegan in Palolem?
